more of the story

We then sat up a phone consult with the Reproductive Care Center in Sandy, Utah. Chris, Jamie and I got to talk at lengths with doctors and nurses from RCC about what we needed to do to even get this process started. Just to give you all an idea of what had to be done; all of us including my sisters husband had to get an infectious disease test done. Then we all had to have a psychiatric evaluation done (to make sure none of us were crazy....ha ha!) we then had to make an appointment with a lawyer to have a legal contract drawn up between Chris and I and Tyson and Jamie, and if that wasn't a chore trying to find a surrogacy lawyer in Wyoming I don't know what was. We finally found one in Utah that would agree to do a surrogacy contract for us but he had to go by Wyoming Surrogacy laws, but the tricky part was that Wyoming has no Surrogacy Laws. So this attorney in Utah was willing to draw up a contract just for the IVF with a surrogate part but then we also needed a Wyoming adoption attorney because I can not legally be listed on the birth certificate as the mother since my sister is the one that would be carrying the child in the womb. Crazy huh? Yeah we thought so too. Okay so we now have an appointments set up with RCC doctors the lawyer in Utah. A phone consult with the adoption lawyer in Wyoming and appointments to get the infectious disease tests and the psych evaluations done. After doing all this and proving that none of us were crazy, (somedays I think my sister wonders if she was when she agreed to do this, ha ha) we then get to set up an actual appointment with RCC to get this whole thing started......oh wait did you think we had started already......bahahaha...think again! That was just the pre-start stuff! :-)

The Beginning

This all started when we were in high school actually. The moment we found out that I could not carry my own child but still produced eggs and all of that, was the moment that my sister said "don't worry Jenny if or when you are ready to have children I will be there to carry your child." and to this day that promise still stands with her. :)
The moment Chris and I were ready to even talk about having children my sister was right there still saying I am ready when you are. So we talked about it for a long while and then I decided to get more info on the whole surrogacy process. I looked online I called all sorts of doctors and then we found one in Los Angeles, CA. I know a pretty far jont for us but this doctor was a world renowned IVF (invitro fertilization) doctor and I wanted the best. We then called the California Fertility Clinic in Los Angeles and got a phone consult set up and talked many times to the doctor and nurses on the phone about the whole process and what we would have to do. They then told us that we could do everything here that was needed and then go to Las Angeles when it was time to implant. Well we kind of put things on the back burner for a little bit and went on with everyday life of working and taking care of our dogs. In the mean time I was still researching trying to find places that did IVF with a surrogate that were closer to home. I found tons of places that did IVF but none that did IVF with a surrogate. I was getting very frustrated and discouraged. Then Chris came home from work one day and said hey this lady at work told me that she was going to this clinic in Utah and that we should call there and see what they would do for us. I called them the next day and I saw hope again! YAY!
